How to dress for that special summer occasion…
Summer celebrations are in full swing and we need SO NOIR style advice to stand out from the crowd.
What better way to celebrate summer than with an extra special occasion in the calendar. Dressing up to the nines and enjoying a tipple in the sunshine has to be one of our favourite things to do during the summer months.
And July seems to be a hot month for day to night events that obviously require an outfit with an extra something something.
With my Best Friend recently marrying her childhood sweetheart, I feel I’m now well-educated in all aspects of wedding dress-code. I’m still on cloud 9 from the event, proudly spending the day on Bridesmaid duties, in the most elegant Pippa Middleton inspired dress, I loved seeing the gorgeous outfit choices of the guests which inspired me to create a style guide for ‘guest dress’ perfection.
But what’s IN this summer?
Vogue says - 'Suits are back: working ladylike pastel shades and pairing with Nineties-style silk halter-necks or camisoles.'
It’s fair to say that the stylish two piece is still at the top of our dress code this summer.
Going from day to night can always be a difficult look to pull off. Something that’s comfortable to wear all day, but extra enough to dominate the dance floor in the evening is one tricky balance.
However, we have the perfect outfit choice for those comfort seeking dancing queens – it has to be the Jumpsuit.
It’s the season for colour pops, and yellow is definitely having its moment. With Amar Clooney recently donning a sophisticated yellow dress for the Royal Wedding, we know this cheerful shade will help you top the best dressed list at any occasion this summer.
Keeping things feminine with pastel tones, this subtle shade is continuing to have its moment.
Popular in Spring and lasting through summer, we pick powder blue as the colour for you.
Whether you go for a baby-blue twinset, or fabulous flowing dress, you’ll be the belle of the ball in blue…
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD
Finish off your outfit with a stylish clutch bag. Something that’s roomie enough to fit all of those essential bits to freshen up your look throughout the day.
We suggest picking something that shows off your personality, such events can be quite formal, so why not make a statement with your satchel and a fierce pair of shoes.
*Steer clear of stilettos too – they’re a nightmare on gravel and grass, we suggest a block heel to keep those tutsis in tow.
